Sorry for how horribly late this review is! I toyed around with the idea of just writing 2 reviews next Monday as Doremi’s releases are delayed but there was another version up so I decided to watch it to get more than the basic plot of the episode.
First of all – I did NOT expect Cure Honey to be revealed in the way that she did. It is quite unlike Precure, which has a history of characters transforming to reveal their identity but no it is just randomly (and accidentally revealed at the end of the episode)
(well Megumi clearly is practising her audition for The X-Factor)
Hime catches herself singing along to Honey’s song which refuses to leave her head much to her annoyance but remarks that they don’t know who Honey is. Blue is apparently on an overseas trip to gather the other Precure to fight the threat of the Phantom Empire -and to be perfectly honest I don’t think he knows either- but this makes a perfect opportunity for Honey to reveal herself.
Cure Blossom makes her entrance (I am using my own subbed video for this!) it is no secret that Nana Mizuki is my fave seiyuu and J-Pop singer OF ALL TIME.
Poor Hime has no rest as Megumi’s classmates are singing Gohan wa Ai no Energy as well as choir club ran by a girl called Hitomi who seems to take her duties highly seriously. With a competition coming up, Cure Honey’s song is distracting the members so they wont sing in harmony. She also agrees the song is weird, much to Hime’s chagrin.
(looks like Hosshiwa is auditioning for the Voice)
Hosshiwa invents her own version of the song in an attempt to challenge Cure Honey. Sorry Hosshiwa but no matter how many crowds of adoring Choiark fans you have you will never be a true diva!
The situation grows worse for Hitomi, who calls them all incompetent despite that fact they don’t enjoy the song she wants them to sing. Megumi tries to comfort her by explaining it is all a misunderstanding and they will recognise each others’ feeling soon, but with a passionate outburst, Hitomi flees.
And is promptly turned into a Saiark!
Hosshiwa mocks the Cures saying that they are pathetic for not knowing the location of Honey and that she only wants to challenge her. Singing the altered version of Honey’s song the Saiark sends out pulses of dark energy that bring the Cures to their knees in pain…
But not for long! Honey appears, singing the song to counteract the Saiark’s evil.
The two of them go on to do a head to head battle!! Lyrics against lyrics! Hosshiwa visibly begins to struggle (which is the most painful thing as her voice is really GRATING. Thank goodness for Honey’s sweet voice!)
And with that sweet voice she breaks through to Hosshiwa who sings along with her
Cure Honey shows that she’s quick on her feet, using her Honey Teleport with a “tada”
And that she’s not just a defensive Cure with Honey Bind and Honey Throw
She can even restore the Cures’ energy with Healing Rhythm! Honey really has it all. I’d love her on my RPG team!
At the end Hitomi and the choir realise feelings (which for some reason means they stop doing the songs they’ve done all semester and decide to sing Honey’s Song which has been around for a day. …okay then.) and this incident ends happily.
Even for Hime who now likes the song, to Yuu-Yuu’s obvious delight (she really gave the game away)
Realising there is no going back, Yuu-Yuu reveals herself as Cure Honey. It takes some time for Megumi to put two and two together but there you have it, the most ordinary reveal in Precure history!
I really feel that Honey is going to be the most helpful character in this series, even moreso than Fortune. Still I want to know who gave her her powers how she got them. Her not being in the previous episodes only points to the fact that she is a recent Precure or she’d’ve helped them in the beginning (at least I like to think so!) Toei has done a great job with engagement, although I have seen numerous complaints about animation and on my first watch through I noticed nothing xD.
Next episode! : “A Mysterious Message!! Cure Honey’s Secret!!”
Namakelder destroying paddy fields and Cure Honey’s long awaited transformation! Don’t miss it tomorrow!
