In this episode the highly unstable Phantom makes his “timely” appearance.
A mysterious enemy is fighting a Precure in the Sahara Desert, Cure Nile. She is however, quickly captured.
And defeated soon after, turning into a mirror.
Today’s Precure Appreciation Speech is brought to you by Komachi Akimoto, AKA Cure Mint!
We get a glimpse of Queen Mirage’s previous life. It seems that she did indeed love Blue.
Mirage wakes up from her daydream to find the mysterious man who introduces himself as the Precure Hunter Phantom. His devotion to Mirage made clear, this annoys the three generals.
Deep Mirror informs them that HappinessCharge Precure are the strongest at the moment and Phantom asks to go and defeat them, however Oresky proclaims that they are the ones who will take care of those particular Precure; Mirage asks Phantom to defeat the other Precure instead. She warns the Generals of what will happen, should they fail her… Pikarigaoka seems a little too familiar to Phantom however…
Meanwhile, Hime is having fun dressing up whilst watching romantic dramas. This stirs memories of Mirage in Blue and he leaves. Megumi notices that something is wrong and follows him.
Arriving in the Mirror Room, Blue shows her the Axia box, which he is mulling over. To his surprise Megumi tells him that she feels love and gentleness coming from it.
To distract her Blue says that they can choose any mirror and go anywhere in the world that she pleases. Megumi loves Pikarigaoka so much that she inadvertently chooses Pikari Shrine, just outside of the city.
Coincidentally, Phantom shows up (how I will never know) and is angry at Blue for some reason. My theory is that he is so in love with Mirage that he cannot forgive what Blue has done to her. Either that or he’s her really devoted brother…
Eager to protect Blue, Lovely puts her self in the crossfire, but despite Blue’s warnings about how powerful an enemy he is, Lovely is quickly overpowered.
Phantom introduces himself to her and prepares to destroy her…
But she is saved by an infuriated Cure Fortune.
Even a strong Precure with as much conviction as Fortune has is no match for Phantom. She claims that he took someone precious from her (maybe a family member) and fights him with all she has but Phantom is just too strong.
However Lovely breaks out of her binds Phantom put her in to come to Fortune’s rescue whom at first refuses her help. But realising that they need to work together to beat Phantom, they team up against him. Phantom realises that Precure on their own are weak but together they hold unmeasurable power.
However this still isnt enough. Blue steps in and proclaims that if he hurts the girls further he will fight Phantom, and that isn’t what Mirage wants. With this in mind, Phantom vanishes finally.
Fortune warns Lovely that this will not happen again and she does not wish to team up with either her or Princess. Blue asks how she got her power and Fortune replies that it came from her older sister, Cure Tender, whom Blue seems to recognise as he immediately realises he is the source of the misfortune.
However this doesn’t matter to Lovely, who still wishes to help him with everything she has. Blue thanks her and then embraces her, causing Lovely to blush and awaken strange feelings in her heart…
This episode finally moves the plot forward, with more interesting questions to be raised. We can now assume that Cure Tender is whom we see in the OP and that Phantom has already defeated her. Megumi may or may not have feelings for Blue and Phantom is a dangerous enemy that will keep taking out the Precure. We also find out that Queen Mirage is still not over her feelings for Blue and that Blue is most likely the source of all the problems.
